Kadesh Barnea

A vineyard oasis in the heart of the Negev
Kadesh Barnea was established in 1999 by Alon Tzadok on Moshav Kadesh Barnea in the Negev desert of southern Israel. Now a second generation family business, his son, Yogev, and daughter-in-law, Eden, are now the wine makers, having both studied winemaking in Florence, Italy, producing more complex and intelligent wines. Kadesh Barnea is currently considered the best winery in the Negev.

The unique features of the Negev region, including altitude and fluctuations in temperature, result in distinctive tastes of the grapes, even for common varietals such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery’s annual production is 80,000 bottles with varietals including: Petit Verdot, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Mourvedre, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Gilad Tzadok, the Sales and Marketing Director, and Ami Nahari of The River, concluded quickly on their first meeting that they share the same vision; providing quality wine at reasonable cost. “Everyone has the right to enjoy good wine,” Gilad expressed.
